Asking for an Investment from the Adult Industy

Like asking for a job in the adult industry, another common email I get at my day job, is from people asking for investments in whatever shady thing things they are doing. Here is a nice example that was sitting in my inbox this morning (censored to save the innocent):

Again people, please check your spelling and grammar especially when asking for 110 million dollars. Also when asking for such a large amount of money, you think you would leave your phone number or something.

The Economics of Prostitution

Economists at the University of Chicago did a study concering the economics of street-level prostitution. They found:

““A prostitute is more likely to have sex with a police officer than to get officially arrested by one.”

Furthermore, the data they collected suggests that street prostitution yields an average wage of $27 per hour. Given the relatively limited hours that active prostitutes work, this generates less than $20,000 annually for a women working year round in prostitution. While the wage of a prostitute is four times greater than the non-prostitution earnings these women report (approximately $7 per hour), there are tremendous risks associated with life as a prostitute. According to the estimates, a woman working as a prostitute would expect an annual average of a dozen incidents of violence and 300 instances of unprotected sex.

Gourmet Sex Toys

Philippe Di Meio created a collection of “erotic tableware” called, Souper Fin. For each item, the designer solicited the help of some of the most higly regarded foodies, to divise a dish that complemented the utensil or receptacle.

All will come together in an exhibition at the L’Eclaireur, Paris, in July. The pieces, the chefs and their creations and instructional short films by Sabine Pigalle will come together at the opening.

Again with the ridiculous and arbitrary website names. MILF Soup? What is that exactly? Do we get MILFs serving tasty soups to their amorous partners before or after coitus? Zack and Miri Make a Porno is the latest film from Kevin Smith, and is set to be released in the fall of this year. Asking for a Job in the Adult Industry

Besides guys asking how they can become porn stars; another common email I get is from guys asking for a job. Here’s an email I received this week via myspace, from a fellow named Will who is 22 and lives in British Columbia:

i honestly just dont get it guys, is this the way you treat your fans like. WHY DONT YOU ADD ME. sorry i may be still a fan and all for the sake of the business but i can say yous dont deserve the fanship yous have nowadays if this is way u treat people. no offense.

u might not have noticed it but i’ve done a hell of alot for your site by sending out myspace bullitens promoting your site.

anyways i apologize if i mean any offense sometimes i just have a big fuckin mouth lol. if you wanna know more about that just ask annaliese of godsgirls and joanna angel of burning angel ive done business with them in the past. im just a freelancer doin anythin i can for the business, i suppose anythin from porn, alt porn, modeling even bands. although some things arent workin out. anyhows i dont ask for any special treatment like just to be acknowledged for my work and someday hopefully really contribute to the business. i can say im still young and inexperienced like as youve prob noticed lol but i guess i know my way around and well i just do what i can. although i make it my habit to not do work for the business for money i do it for the art of it, sounds pretty silly i know but money doesnt apply to me in that area. but theres no question about it i luv youre company and yous are def the best in the business. i just got a little emotional there when yous wouldnt add me cause i know i insulted your name before by sayin i worked for yas. but it was only as a matter of a promoter. but one day i hope not to be showin off on myspace and really do something cause people still do think im a fake and i dunno shit about it but i know more than they think haha. To all of you out there aspiring to work in the porn industry, heres a little advice. Don’t send unsolicited emails (especially through myspace) to companies, they will be ignored. All legitimate adult companies post their job openings through the same channels where you would find a “normal” job. If you do send an unsolicited email, don’t insult the company you want to work for, please keep an eye on your spelling and grammar, and most importantly: don’t come off as being completely and utterly insane!
